Cape Hatteras may be the most iconic lighthouse on the Outer Banks, but Bodie Island is one of the most easily accessed and picturesque. This is perhaps my favorite of the NC Lighthouses. The setting is very beautiful, and if you love taking photos, you can get some phenomenal shots of sunrises and sunsets. There is also a night walking pier/boardwalk, which gives excellent views of the marsh and the lighthouse.

I absolutely love this lighthouse & the area there. It's such a pretty place & rich in history as well. It's very easy to access & is open 24 hours. My husband and I visited 2 separate times while on our vacation. Once right before sunset & again tonight which was beautiful to see it lighting up under the stars. Theres also a walkway to a little pier in the marsh. The house there is beautiful as well & has interesting history & facts to read.

Loved this lighthouse. And even had a chance to see it light up the sky after dark. Great place to visit

Beautiful and tranquil. Great place for photography, 24 hours a day. Night times, dawn, sunset, moonlit - anytime. In the early hours you may find deer grazing. At dawn, herons and egrets will fly in. Not too hard to get to (about 20 minutes from Kill Devil Hills). Dress warmly during the off season as the winds can be bone chilling.

Really liked this place because it was more than a lighthouse.... While we couldn't go indoors (Covid) we really enjoyed the overlook. There is nature on all sides of you here and this may be one of the better places to view the sound and understand what the sound looks like and how it is every bit as special as the ocean side of the Banks. There's a great story behind Bodie Island - one that young boys will think is cool. I'm not sure if that story was on a plaque here but this DOES give you the history of the lighthouse. This one is gorgeous and has a completely clear view of it on all sides. There are also grounds to the east to explore too though we didn't make it over there.
