Good food and atmosphere. FOH needs some work, and prices are exorbitant, even for the island.

We had an AMAZING meal at Via Mare. We went during covid which from our experience usually makes service and experience so much worse. This was not the case with Via Mare. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and wine list, and we ended up with a very unique bottle of Cab Franc that we would have never picked on our own. The food itself was fantastic. We started with oysters, bruschetta, bacala and calamari. All were incredible. I do have to say that the calamari was a bit salty and a huge serving, I would forgo this in the future and focus on all the other amazing dishes. The oysters were the best we’ve had. We followed with the shrimp and corn pasta dish which was out of this world. It was a cream dish but felt light and fresh. Even though we were full at this point, we ordered the chicken Milanese because we wanted to keep trying the food... it was delicious. It was almost like a bao. This was also fried and a bit salty though. Ambiance was lovely, playlist was phenomenal. By far our favorite meal on the island so far. No idea why there are some terrible reviews.... we are city people and have a pretty high expectation, don’t let these reviews steer you away!

We were vacationing on Nantucket for New Years and had hoped for an enjoyable New Years Eve dining experience. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed as we got extreme food poisoning from eating at Via Mare Restaurant, and the manager never even reimbursed our meal expense. Very poor customer service and we'll never visit that restaurant again.

I really enjoyed the food and the vibe at Via Mare and can't wait until my next visit. The lobster tails were amazing! The lemon granita was the perfect refreshment on a summer evening.

I had heard of a great new Italian Restaurant on the island and this certainly wasn’t that. We were we incredibly disappointed and certainly won’t be recommending or returning. I was dining with four other people and they felt the same way. It started with asking for a glass of a full bodied smooth Cabernet and you would think we were asking for a rare glass of red. We tried three different suggestions that were red blends since the simple cab wasn’t an option. We decided on the third choice which wasn’t what we really wanted and was thinner but it seemed like the best choice. We were famished and asked for bread three times. The first time our waitress forgot and began waiting on another party. When the hostess checked on us we asked her a second time and believe it or not had to ask one more time before we received it. We finally decided on sharing a bunch of appetizers, a salad and three pasta dishes. We really enjoyed the Calamari but it was so small that it was barely enough for two people. We ended up reordering a second one. My favorite app was the cauliflower for sure. As far as the pasta dishes they were some of the smallest entrees that I’ve ever seen. Again, each dish was enough for one and a half small servings. They were all three delicious homemade pasta but not nearly enough food. Overall this was one of the poorest dining experiences I’ve had on ACK. The restaurant was very unorganized from the start and it got worse as the night progressed. At one point early on I wanted to get up and pay for our drinks and head over to Dune which was the most incredible meal and service the previous evening. So sorry but we won’t be back.
