I've always had good experiences at this restaurant. The food is so tasty. My favorite dish is the cod fish gratin; it's luxuriously rich and savory.

Went their recently to take a friend out for her retirement celebration. It is a very good place for special occasions or just regular dining. Great food and service.
My boyfriend and I went to Alfama only because we had a Groupon (we wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise). The food was great (we got the lasagna) and the wine was really good. Service was great too, until we told the waiter we were paying with a Groupon. Then we got a really bad attitude, and it really changed my view of the place. The food and atmosphere was good though. If you can afford this restaurant, then I'd suggest it. Beware if you have some deal!
Don't buy a Groupon deal for this place. It is a rip off. You will be treated like a cheap second-class, seated in a basement, and given a special groupon menu. "Normal" first-class sits in a nice hall with life music.
Got a groupon for it, but find it very hard to use. Call it million times without being able to a reservation. With the help from groupon, finally got a reservation. But the food is only so so, the same for its service. Won't be there again.
Don't recommend using Groupons at this place. The host that took care of us (I believe is the owner) is not friendly at all, I won’t say he was rude, but does not make you feel welcome at all. All groupon customers are placed in the basement next to the kitchen, they serve the appetizers half the size than regular ones, the menu is very restricted for groupon voucher holders, although the food is not bad they go out of their way to make sure you don’t consume one penny above the discounted value of your groupon. I ordered the Shrimp Acorda which basically was all bread and no shrimp, just one whole shrimp placed on top of the dish, my friend ordered the Veal Roast and ended up being served a Shell Steak, the funny thing is that the waiter didn’t even come to us to let us know there was no more veal or if we wanted to change the dish, they just served it! not to make a big deal out of it, we accepted the dish which wasn’t bad, the meat was tender and had a good sauce, but far from what we ordered. At the end they charged us 15% tip on the whole value of the coupon, which was 108 (but what we consumed was nowhere near that amount), and with tax we ended up paying an additional 20 something more. So, NO REAL DEAL here whatsoever, I don’t know why they sell groupons, they shouldn’t, because is deceptive. We definitely won’t be going back there again.
Horrible experience. All the reviews written at open table have been done by the owner. They are selling groupons and stealing money from groupon holders. Please be advised this is a very bad restaurant!! They will mistreat you, food is not good and if you hold a groupon you will order off a special groupon menu, not the menu they advertise on line. You will be charged a 20% tip on the amount they value the groupon at. For example, they value a groupon for 4 at 216.00 so you will pay 52.00 for a tip but our dinner for 4 when calculated did not not even come close to the 216.00 because they have a seperate menu for groupon holders so you will not get the 32.00 filet you might have bought the groupon for because it's not on the menu. We ordered the chicken for 20.00 because that's all that looked good so our meals and drinks only came to 100.00 but they made us pay a tip of 20% on the 216.00. The owner is psyho and the staff is horrible. Food sucks. Don't go. There is a reason why this place is selling groups.......... DON'T BE FOOLED LIKE WE WERE.
