I love this place so much. A past ritual of mine was to eat here regularly after a session at the Russian and Turkish baths close by. In addition to the excellent food, I was gifted one of the greatest memories which I think of almost every day since. In 2008, I politely asked the manager if he would please charge my completely dead Blackberry with my charger. He agreed but added, “so, normally we don’t do this, so, next time, there is no next time”. Since that night, every instance I hear someone say “next time”, I hear in my head the manager’s retort “there is no next time”.

Shabu-Tatsu is by far the best and my go to for a special occasion. Staff is very professional and great service. The wagyu beef is so yummy, tasty, and best for both sukiyaki and shabushabu.

Experience was good overall. Seemed like the place tried to be authentic Japanese, but had some Asian fusion. Meat was really good, better than most American places. However many Korean BBQ and other Japanese places have better. That being noted, I think the price point of this place is actually very good. For the price you pay, I think the quality is adequate. As most noted, service does seem to have issues - could be improved, but we were overall happy with it. Overall, good experience and we will repeat. Also, best to make reservations if you can.

Japanese comfort to the max. Have been going for years, did take out during shutdown, and was my first indoor dining when nyc opened back up. Whether you choose Yakiniku or Shabu Shabu, it will be a wonderful meal. Attentive service and great value.
