An amazing experience! The food was beyond delicious and the staff was beyond kind and accommodating! Though it maybe pricey, I’d say it is def worth it! Make sure you go with an empty tummy! Also, Sam and Emily are great! As we were leaving Sam double checked to make sure we were getting in our Uber! The staffs kindness is truly heart warming! This experience made our anniversary one that is unforgettable!

At 55.00, the lunch offering is a great way to experience Tempura Matsui for those not inclined to invest in the price of the dinner set. The tempura is the star of the show and each piece was a delight but that's not to say that everything else wasn't equally as lovely from the green tea soba noodles and chilled dashi to the chawanmushi, celery salad (delicious and refreshing) and potato salad. The inside of the restaurant is a serene oasis. Choosing to sit on the patio (covid times), it still felt like I was having a little respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Service is gracious and friendly.

Best tempura I ever had. There’s not so much surprise, but every detail is perfect. The price for lunch is pretty fair. Highly recommend.

Tempura Matsui is an amazing space. The decore is traditional Japanese and intimate with only around 20 seats in the dining room. At the center of the room is the bar wrapped around a chef's station where you can watch the master tempura chefs fry each individual tempura you'll be eating. The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. They were very attentive to my food allergies (which they asked about before I informed them) and made sure we were enjoying our food at a comfortable pace. I went to Tempura Matsui with a party of 2 and we ordered the Kaiseki course, which is their mid-priced set menu. The course started with two starters: green tea tofu and a small broccoli, shrimp salad. The starters were delightful and refreshing. The second course was some sashimi which was amazingly clean and fresh. Then came the tempura course where we were given individual pieces of tempura one or two at a time with recommendations on what to pair the tempura with: salt, lemon juice, and/or tempura sauce. The tempura ranged from vegetables to seafood. The chefs do an amazing job of lightly frying the tempura so you're not sick of the oil after the multiple rounds. After 10 rounds of tempura, you're given your main course: a choice of tendon, tencha, or cold udon. I got the tencha and thought it was amazing! The warm tea is rich in flavor and matches well with the rice and shrimp tempura. My partner had the tendon, which was rice topped with shrimp tempura dipped in a sweet sauce. Finally, the last course is a dessert which happened to be a cold grapefruit dish with whiskey sauce. Overall, the experience was amazing and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Lunch set, perfection. The sashimi of the day is surprisingly good with the fish jelly. Okra, eggplant, squid are very memorable. Service is top quality meeting Michelin Star standard. Chef table gives a great view of the craftsmanship.
