I was really surprised with this place. Was walking down Chinatown passing by the waves of people trying to sell handbags, and took a left into little Italy. Was surprised to find this hole in the wall. The food was delicious and the price was great. If you want some real Chinatown authentic food then this is the place to go. The service was fantastic as well

High quality Shanghai-style dumplings with unusually attentive and friendly staff (for Chinatown). It's a small space but the layout is smart to allow plenty of seating without being too cramped. The regular pork dumplings were better than the crab/pork mix. Well worth a try.

What a great spot for Chinese in little Italy/Chinatown. Food was phenomenal, we got the scallion pancake wrapped beef (pictured), soup dumpling sampler and the noodles with ground pork in sauce (pictured), we loved it all. The chili paste they had on the table was really tasty, but not spicy. And it came to just 24 for the two of us and we were full. Service was on point too. I highly recommend Tiny Shanghai! It is cash only though.

This is a good alternative to the popular soup dumpling spots. This cozy location hidden on the edge of little Italy has two floors of space and can fit larger groups. The beef scallion pancakes are a perfect starter. The soup dumplings are average size and a bit more pricey than many of the popular locations nearby but tasty nonetheless. They also are not scalding hot when you open them up. The boiled dumplings are good as well but if you had to choose, go with the soup dumplings. This venue is also clean, accepts credit cards, and the servers speak English well.

Tried to go to Joe’s Shanghai with a 40 minute wait which isn’t bad, but we weren’t in the mood since it was a Sunday afternoon. We ended up going here and it was great. Crab/pork combo soup dumplings and pork dumplings, pork buns, scallion pancakes, and general tso’s chicken. Too much food for 2 people but delicious. Good service. Bathroom downstairs could be a bit cleaner but fine nonetheless.

Wow, I’m loving this new Shanghai / Japanese fusion place. I mainly came here for the soup dumplings because the one I normally go to on Mott was just a rude and rushed experience every time I went. Anyways, I decided to give this a try and I’m so glad I did! The xiao long baos are so yummy. Skin is thin and broth is flavorful and not that much fat! However, there’s a twist - they have... BLACK TRUFFLE PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS! I was skeptical about it at first but I’m was intrigued. I didn’t want to order a whole order because what if I didn’t like it... BUT AS I LOOKED THEY HAVE A COMBO (6 pieces) of soup dumplings that includes: 2x Crab Meat Pork Soup Dumplings, 2x Regular Pork Dumplings, 2x Black Truffle Dumplings. What a treat! I also ordered cold sesame noodles, cold tofu, scallion pancake, and a extra order of just Crab Meat Pork Soup Dumplings :) Total was 31! How affordable is that?! Amazing. The atmosphere of the restaurant was chilled. Clean and not tight. Would totally recommend & would totally come back.
