We like NiteCap because the fish is hot and crispy. The potato pancakes great like homemade! The walleye is definitely worth it too! Be prepared to give your order as you give your name for seating. You will wait to be seated ((they expect you to have at least one drink at the bar))Food served family style as you are seated. Reorders do take time because they make the food when you order rather than sitting under lights.

Loved it! Two adults and one 10-year-old walk in the door and a woman standing at the waitress station at the bar greets us with \Chicken? Fish? Shrimp? Or walleye?\ We were a little stunned because we expected the whole sit at a table and order with menus thing. We first asked if there was sit down dining due to the whole Covid thing and were assured there was but it worked with us answering her question before waiting at the bar for our food and table to be ready. Different, but we rolled with it because that's what everyone else seemed to be happily doing. The bartender was pleasant and attentive. I don't know how long we waited because I was just relaxed and taking the unique atmosphere in. Turns out there is a menu that the bartender pointed out wasn't all that accurate due to changing open dates but whatever, we were there for the fish fry I've been hearing about for decades. It wasn't fast, but not too long after they called our name and we were seated in the next room with our amazing food fresh and hot waiting for us. I had the walleye that was not all you can eat but that did not matter because there were two giant crispy filets of it. My wife got the cod which was all you can eat and our child got the chicken. All excellent. Our waitress was personable like you were a guest in her home. I overheard other tables talking that they drive over an hour to come for this experience. My only regret is that I didn't come sooner to see the recently passed German owner run it while playing the piano that was sadly seen covered with a sheet at the head of the bar. Some may read this review and be not as happy with what I described but sometimes you just gotta roll with it and be happy.

Love the nostalgia of the place. Fun & yummy relish tray with homemade cheese spread. Had the Southern fried chicken & baked potato...delicious! Will be back to try the fish fry!
