My first (and almost certainly last) purchase from AMS was a shockingly awful experience. I bought a new guitar that the AMS webpage said had a "minor blemish" and the sales agent called it "open box." I didn't realize they meant open box literally! This (photo) is the condition in which I received it. The FedEx clerk (who I know personally and I trust) said from what he could see it was shipped in that condition, with a few pieces of tape slapped over it. The box even had water stains. The guitar inside was miraculously not badly damaged; but it didn't have a "minor blemish"; rather it had MANY significant blemishes, along with a worn fingerboard and dirty strings. It was obvious someone had played it a lot, and treated it hard. It was not a new "open box" guitar; it was a heavily used guitar and should have been sold as such. I'm giving two stars instead of one because AMS did accept the return and gave me a full refund, though only after a lot of arguing on the phone. But it was a shockingly low standard of service and a huge waste of my time. **UPDATE 1/22/21: I see AMS put the exact same guitar back in stock still marked "MINOR BLEMISH" (singular!) at the same price as before. So, when called out for misrepresenting the condition of their products, they will take it back; but they'll also just put it back up for sale at the same price, misrepresented again. Stunning lack of integrity.**

Minor Blemish ..joke or for real ? The guitar they sent me was a Disgrace !!! ok it was Never checked before shipping like the rep i spoke to told me they check #1 Lie ... this guitar went sent back to Ibanez will probably go in the garbage ... It was a Blemish and According to your company -" Minor Blemished Products are items that have been returned in excellent condition with very minor cosmetic blemishes, allowing you to get great gear at a discounted price. In fact, many times our customers have difficulty finding the minor blemishes at all! These products are 100% inspected and tested" LIE # 2 , The strings could not be moved , the bridge was so far out of adjustment unreal, Every tuner was loose (6) the battery connector was damaged, , I spent a lot of time few hours on it trying to keep it .changed the strings 12.99 cost me , because the strings on the guitar had corrosion on them , after all this i didn't realize that , this is the best the fretboard is splintered all over on the right side of the neck almost got splinters ..... Like i said this guitar was checked ???? Disgrace that AMS lied about it .

I see negative reviews but I have never had an issue purchasing from AMS. I would prefer to get a discount but I often order without calling. They have a very good selection but lately I noticed they changed payment plans making Fender three payments. I guess it makes sense but it forces you to come up with a chunk of money. Still the shipping is fast and free. Give it a shot!

I bought a Line6 V240 Mkii amp, An Ibanez JemJrSP yellow, and an Ibanez 300C hardshell case. My amp and case were in excellent condition with NO problems. Unfortunately the JemJr had many issues. The truss rod was too tight which lead to a bowed neck. Tuning knobs were loose and I broke a string trying to tune the dam thing. The bridge was also loose and ruined the intonation during tuning and my tone pot would barely move due to being too tight when mounted........ A new guitar should be playable out of the box I feel, but thank goodness I can fix all the problems. I hope when a guitar is sold, and the customer also buys a hardshell case..... It should ship with the guitar in the hardshell case. I hope they adopt this suggestion.

I bought a Fender Acoustic bass guitar and gig bag. The time that I received both items was fast and accurate. 1 day shipping for the bass and 2 day shipping for the gig bag. The fender acoustic bass is the best I have ever played. No problems at all. The strings are excellent sounding. The bass fit perfectly in the gig bag. I will definitely order again.

It goes without saying, you should make good on all debts period. No question the business or the person. That said, consumers should be aware if you are not able to complete payments for whatever reason American Musical Supply have fine print clauses in their contract that allow them to make unauthorized debits from any card they obtain legally or through 3rd party vendors. There will be no debate or understanding of any circumstances that might affect your ability to pay. In that regard, it's similar to any payday loan company. My issue is American Musical Supply's business practices and subsequent customer experience. You get the sense, the employees have taken a fair number of calls relating to what would seem to be "unauthorized debts". As a privately owned company they don't have to deal with shareholders who might impose a different and more ethical business model. If you have had a bad experience related to a loan, make sure once you are paid, that you request a letter/email regarding settlement. I also recommend submitting a request to remove all your personal information from their databases once paid. I am not aware of their consumer data privacy policies but I would imagine they are not great. Read the contract, document everything and protect your information. Like anything else in life, do business with people you can trust.
