Cozy place with a modern feel. Mostly small plates with the rice/noodle dishes being generally more filling. The presentation/composition of the dishes looks great. Unfortunately there is still some work to do in terms of flavor. The tuna cold appetizer and the grilled squid were a bit disappointing.

Izakaya 'casual' style restaurant doesnt disappoint on trying to push the boundaries of flavors on Japanese dishes and techniques. No sushi or ramen here! It's a tapas-style where you can quite comfortably order half a dozen dishes and not feel over full or heavy. The food is interesting, with the fried chicken and seasame sauce, and the tempura style squash blossoms - delish! Drink selection is perfect match for the food, with glass/carafe/bottles of sake, with matching Japanese whiskey and beers to go with. Great service as well.
Food was interesting yet delicious. Friendly staff and cool atmosphere. I would try izakaya fried chicken next time.
OKA is a fantastic new spot in Murray Hill. The fried chicken is incredibly juicy, with a somewhat western crust and a delightful dipping sauce. The pork tonkatsu has an entirely different crust and is served on some very nicely dressed napa cabbage. The udon soup was is we tried OKA, and it is tremendous in it's simple strong flavors. The bartender also made a great sake recommendation. All around friendly and inviting staff. 100% recommend.
I came here right after returning from Japan; the appetizers and the drinks we had at the bar was amazing. Initially, I came here because while in Okinawa saw that this opened in NYC. I guess I came because I missed Okinawa and see what the hype was. Our bartender Carlos was super awesome, and gave us tastings of whiskies and sakes. I also ordered a beef tartare and karaage, which was superb! Definitely will return for an actual dinner.
This was an awesome Tasting Collective dining club event we attended. It was 8-course Izakaya Inspired Feast. The inside is quite small, but more cozy than tight, maybe the high ceiling makes it feel larger than it really is. The decor was rather simple, white walls with a few abstract paintings. The vibrant colors of the painting really popped against the white walls. To the left side of the restaurant from the entrance is a bar & kitchen. It is always interesting to be able to see the kitchen, where the tasty dishes come out to life. We sat at the bar, so we really got to see all the magic in the kitchen. We got to try Edamame Salad, Salmon Roe with Sunchoke, Tuna with Masago and Kalamata Olive, Japanese Caesar Salad, Hamachi Kama, Tonkatsu, Mustard Fried Rice, Passion Fruit Anglaise. Everything was really, very tasty! The quality was high, dishes were interesting and creative without losing the essence of Washoku. Since we sat at the bar, we got to know the bartender a little. He is Japanese, really nice and friendly. He took a really nice care of us during the event. Thank you Kazu san! The rest of the staffs were all polite and very efficient. We had a really nice event here, we enjoyed the experience and the food tremendously. We would certainly be going back for more delightful, creative and delicious food!
A cool New York style Izakaya!
Amazing small plates, sake, and cocktails. Wonderful, friendly service to boot. Great neighborhood spot.
