We absolutely love this Forest preserve. There is an East and a West and both are filled with surprises. The East has great biking trails and walking trails and a beautiful prairie while it also has a mini RC airfield. The West has so many hills in ravines it's surprising that it's located around here because it makes you feel like you're in Wisconsin. There are two sledding hills and lots of walking biking kid stroller friendly trails and pathways all around both East and West that make this a very enjoyable Forest preserve. The hours are from sunrise to sunset however they do extend the hours sometimes in the winter for the sledding hill.

We discovered this place while looking for quality hiking trails where we could bring our dog. We prefer hikes that last a couple of hours- usually around 3-5 miles at our pace- and that really put you out in nature. The trails here are well-maintained, easy to use, easy to navigate and not too crowded. Some of the main trails are gravel and some are paved for a little while but it’s not too long before you find a nice dirt footpath that winds you through the woods. In fact, the number of smaller little jaunt trails makes this our new favorite hiking spot- you can kind of add them all together for a long hike or pick and choose. The woods are beautiful- we love the oak trees! I think we found the perfect place to catch your breath away from the city.

Would be nice if there would be maps on the trails on forks not only color coded posts. Otherwise big nice park.

Deer Potential Park Visitors, This park is a beautiful plot of nature with lovely scenery and several long trails. We thought that it was overall worth our long drive (45 mins). Here’s what we noticed: PROS: - many long trails for exploring - beautiful scenery and quiet atmosphere - dog and family friendly - lots of parking - we did see deer CONS: - we were slightly confused and lost due to infrequent and nondescript signage - weekends are VERY busy - the park closes several hours earlier than google maps indicates - the only facilities are outhouses
