Surprised and delighted. The mashed potatoes were on the bring of being over salted, and the Mac and cheese to me isn’t worth 11. Other than that BABBBBBBBBYYYYYYY the fried chicken was everything I needed in my life and their broccolini is delicious as well. You have to get the pineapple upside down bread pudding, my god. This is the best soul food I’ve had in Philly!
Got treated here for my birthday, as I specifically requested some good soul food. Soul food tends to run a little expensive but these prices for the portions are a bit much. The fried chicken was mediocre, greens were alright (though greens have a lower ceiling for me), potatoes were not really seasoned and maybe boiled so harder to retain some seasoning. The cornbread was really good and so was the giant cookie we got for free.
South is amazing before Covid went almost every Thursday to Gerald Veasely shows. Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere and entertainment. If you love great jazz bands and music.. welcome to South!!
Absolutely delicous soul food! Booked reservations for dinner. Dining reservations can be booked in their bar area, dining area, or outdoor palor. We dined in their dining area where we experienced good food and service. The ambience was very romantic and sultry ( I highly recommend coming here for a date night) We ordered the cornbread, macaroni & cheese, fried chicken entree, and crab cakes entree. EVERYTHING WAS FANTASTIC!
