I am not a very professional writer but this place felt as close to a place as home. My favorite parts during class is doing board breaking and sparring as you can have a moment to show your strength peacefully against the board and opponents.
Phoenix TKD exemplifies all the characteristics of a good tkd school. The masters are committed to each child and the family atmosphere one feels, is not contrived or faked. Each of the masters cares about the children and it shows. I know of several families that have all of their kids going through the Phoenix program and there is a reason why. It's not just kicking and punching that define a school but the philosophy behind that counts. The masters of this school really take the time to teach each child about discipline, resolve, character and integrity. Phoenix does a really fine job of teaching kids and adults alike. Great job Phoenix please keep it up.
Not sure who wouldn't like this place if your looking for traditional Korean Taekwondo. No weapons other then your body (hence tae strike with foot, kwon strike with hands, do art method) to develop. Adults of any age down to the youngest I've seen of age 4 enjoy the masters. Phoenix has the highest retention rate of its clients...I've asked and looked around at most places in the DC area prior to Phoenix. After care program is flexible and works well with most parents and kids. Traditional values and will help teach kids respect, self control of actions, and many other missing values many kids are missing these days. Sparring Program is constantly putting out National level juniors and recently junior gold medal at the Worlds Taekwondo Championships in China. Last time the US had a junior gold was 20 years ago. Hard work and commitment will get you there at any level. Form is expressed so they do have some forms winners and national champion for those not into Sparring. Not every place is perfect but Phoenix has a habit of making you feel comfortable from a parent view and as a student ... so perfect enough. One thing that is better then most places... no contract and flexibility in days you attend and even if you have to take time off...no worries and your not charged. Come back where you left off. I sound like a commercial but really I've looked many places over the years from Korea back to the US and I believe in how they teach and staying true to the Taekwondo traditions.
