Great vigorous hike with some of the best elevation gain (3200 ft) on the AT when you trek south. It is nice to summit and see the actual fruits of your labor. There are many switchbacks to help but it is steepest towards the top. S Dont miss the off trail rock cropping when you summit! There are also two stream crossings. It is worth the extra mile to loop in Crabtree falls if you can shuttle very easy downhill to the falls.
