This was one of three trails my wife and I took on our honeymoon in 1964. Absolutely astounding looking North after we went through Ptarmigan tunnel. Love the photos. It looks the same 55 years later!

Cool views. It’s windy up there.

This is a great hike and destination. The difference between the 2 valleys that the tunnel connects is a big contrast. Even the temperature was much cooler on the far side. Make sure to walk past the tunnel a little ways down to see the valley and more glaciers on the left side.

Beautiful hike!

Beautiful vistas in 2 very different drainages in GNP, afforded by a quick jaunt through the tunnel itself. It is a long hike with a moderate elevation gains, but definitely worth it. En route one with passes by the beautiful Ptarmigan Lake at the upper cirque, just before the final switchbacks up to the tunnel. Plan on a longer day, especially if planning to hit up the tunnel, then scoot out to Iceberg Lake (you're already most of the way there at the trail fork, why not???).

Tunnel was very cool. If you continue a couple hundred yards past the tunnel, you get an awesome view of old-sun glacier

This is one of the best hikes I've done. There will be some people on the trail with you which is good with it being bear country. But the views when you come out of the tunnel are just breathtaking. But bring warm cloths, the weather up there is cold.

This is by far one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever been on... God is Great
