Really nice BBQ restaurant. Just had a walk by because of curiosity of the front display of equipment and the smell from the BBQ got me hooked. I ordered the BBQ beans and the large rib plate. It was tender and full of flavor. Beans had brisket meat in it; I think also great choice. Best thing was how the sauce was awesome, great flavor. I should have purchased a bottle to take home. From Cleveland Ohio visiting and I been in Gatlinburg Tennessee for BBQ at Bennett’s but this here place in Louisville to me is in the lead. The only thing I would critic is the sauce is thin, runs off the rib. Awesome flavor but if you thicken it a bit, it be double awesome. Trying to figure what’s in it for my home use. Love it . 5 star and recommend.

We went to River Road BBQ today. We ordered only 3 pieces of ribs. For starters it was 5.30 for only 3 pieces. Second, the ribs were cold/dry and they were very fatty. They also give you cold barbecue sauce on the side that tastes like vinegar. Never will return.
They have a fairly limited menu. I got a pulled pork sandwich. The meat was juicy and tender. It had a more smokey flavor than I like, but not bad. Only 1 BBQ sauce, and it was very thin, and very greay. Didn't really taste like BBQ sauce at all. Their coleslaw isn't the creamy kind, its vinegar based. I did enjoy that, and it went well with my sandwich. My boyfriend had the spicy chicken sandwich. It was VERY spicy to me, but I can't do spicy foods. He commented that it was a bit spicy. The meat was very dry. They had a good selection of drinks in their cooler, but they weren't very cold. I think i will stick with City BBQ.
Food was amazing. Nice portions of pulled pork. My buddy had brisket that he also said was amazing. For sure try it if u are close by. I will eat here again guaranteed
Just stopped by to grab a bite between tours (I'm visiting from out of town). The staff was very polite and a young gentleman inquired about my visit and gave me a tip on something to see nearby I'd never have known about! The food was also great-the flavour of the pork and spare ribs stood above the brisket, but the brisket was still good.
