I have been a member at La Fitness in the past and I decided to return in November of 2020. I have never been more embarrassed to be part of a gym. They have equipment down for repair on a weekly basis and it takes months and months of time to get these fixed. Their water filter is showing the red color and refuse to change it. By far the worst managed gym I have ever been to. No one reracks their weights and leave dumbbells all over the place.

NO MASKS. Quite a few people DO NOT WEAR MASKS. The staff does nothing about it! The facility is nice. There are a few downside to this gym. First it does not open till 8AM. Seriously? 95% Of the people working out spending way too much time texting a between their sets meaning you have to wait so long to use a machine because these people text more than workout. The other issues are most of the guys there do not take their weights off the machines when they are done. So for the female members this means you will be spending a lot of time removing 45 Lb plates off the machines before using. The other is you get these tools that take up 3 or 4 machines at a time and when you attempt to use one of them because the guy is all the way on the 1st of the 4 and it will be 15 minutes before gets to it you get slack from them saying that they're using the machine or when they're not really using the machine and then they go back to texting in between sets. Management or the inside sales person that got you to commit to purchase a membership doesn't do anything about this. So think twice joining here.
Equipment rarely updated. Facilities could be cleaner. Young staff with poor communication skills use gang intimidation tactics because they do not know how to communicate with you directly and honestly. Trainers/acting managers use aggressive salesman tactics to force you into trying training sessions even if you politely decline. The same guy also had me fill out a long questionnaire, then blew me off on the appointment even though he asked for multiple confirmations. It’s just not worth it to risk Covid-19 to join this gym. I am a former LA Fitness member for more than 5 years.
The atmosphere is wonderful, you don't have to wait long for equipment, and their employees staff is fantastic.
The best gym in the Grayslake and Round Lake Area. Tried Zip fitness but didn’t have all the machines i was looking for. Alex was very helpful and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. Looking for a motivating place to get into shape at a fair price? Go to LA Fitness you won’t be disappointed.
Gyms ok, kinda expensive, they try to get you with the deals that look like they save you money but it doesn't. 1/3rd of the Equipment is either broken or doesn't work, gets pretty packed. Got a year subscription, definitely will not renew. I'll go to another gym.
Trainers sit around at their desks playing games. Don't interact with members If just to say hi. Some broken equipment, area around weights in the back equipment could use a good vacuum.
It's ok when it's not too crowded Machines and ellipticals upstairs are old and some in very bad shape
