This was my first time going and it was pretty interesting. The only thing though is that you have to be careful because there is no covering for the side it's just open so you might fall and if you do you have the possibility of dying (depends how you fall). The only thing I liked was the scenic view I got from the city.

This area is were Challan Rest stop & Santa Fe Dam entrance meet,, Which is Arrow Hwy that divides the two area's , San Gabriel river bike trail continues onto the Santa Fe Dam,, from that point bout a quarter mile the San Gabriel river bike trail splits and becomes two bike trails ,go right(east)on the bike trail & you'll end up at the entrance to the Santa Fe Dam park & Recreation area & Santa Fe Dam Reservoir about a mile and a half.go left(west) on the the San Gabriel river bike trail & you'll end at Duarte's City of Hope Staff's Parking lot,,which there tends to be alot of homeless people posting up and wondering along side the bike trail in that specific area,,so always take extra precaution and be aware of your surroundings if you head out in that direction..I recommend if you're on a solo ride I'd consider not to venture late into that area.also there's alot of coyotes in that area.I go there cus I'm familiar with the area..to the right is a gravel road that will take you right in Front of a metro Link Station right onto a bike lane that will take you to Encanto park.great path to take if you are familiar with the route.from there a quick stop to refuel & the entrance to San Gabriel river bike trail is just across the street from the park & that will get you to Gateway Center on Hwy 39 is..if you're a strong Cyclist it's gonna be great to take a ride into the San Gabriel Mountains & test your endurance & ability. It's always a challenge when you're on hwy 39 .. But with such beautiful Mountains,, it's well worth the challenges that you'll come across durring your ride..
