I recently moved to the SCV and thought I had finally found a bookstore near me. I've been to this BN a few times within the past few weeks and sadly today was my last day going to this location. I've never felt uncomfortable and unwelcomed at a bookstore but today was a first when my dog was kicked out for accidentally dropping 3-5 gifts bags with her leash that I immediately picked up but mistakenly misplaced in the wrong size section and later apologized for. Not a yelp review person but I feel like the employee's reaction was perhaps unnecessary, unwelcoming, unkind, and uncalled for. There was no disrespect on any part, i was just asked if my dog is a service dog because otherwise she couldn't be at the bookstore. I visit bookstores and buy books as a hobbie, always with my dog and have never had a problem or a complaint. I won't risk my dog being kicked out again at this location, since I don't believe she misbehaved or caused any trouble. Please treat people with kindness, we are all struggling and we all have good and bad days, choose empathy.
