John had certified me for diving back in 2003 and actually helped me select gear. This is my dive gear from a couple of days ago and you will notice on my left the emergency regulator is attached to the vest instead of a separate hose hanging off to the side. This was something that John had suggested to me and i went along with it. Well the inevitable happened and my primary regulator got stuck at 60 feet under and it took me all of 4 seconds to reach to my vest and pop in the emergency air supply while the dive master came to my rescue. Had I been forced to search for my emergency air hanging off to the side like most setups have I might have panicked. Thank you for everything!

The Scuba Shack here in McAllen is a really great shop. In my experience, the staff is extremely friendly, easy to reach, and really willing to go that extra mile. The owner, John, is extremely knowledgeable and is one of the nicest people I've ever met. It's great to see a dive shop within the community, and the fact that it's capable of providing a great range of services and good pricing with a smile is just the icing on the cake! I would definitely recommend the Scuba Shack again and again to beginner and more experienced divers alike.
Great people. Very friendly staff. Classes are informative and fun. Will be recommending it to my friends, as well as returning myself for advanced training in the future.
Was here for a certification course 10 yrs ago almost. Just reached out for help to get proof of certification. Great staff and great customer service.
