This was a last minute decision for my husband and I to go here and eat lunch. We were downtown running errands and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. Initially we wanted to go to potbelly sandwich shop but since they were closed I decided to look up other sandwich shops in the area, and secret sandwich society popped up on my list! It had good reviews so I decided to give it a try and I'm so happy we did! All the sandwiches are named after presidents which is super funny I loved the atmosphere and our waitress was super polite. I also loved the bathroom because it had an air purifier inside it for the virus. Would come in here again!

Amazing Lunch/Dinner location!! If you're a sandwich person like myself, Secret Sandwich Society is all you're looking for in Richmond! With a wide variety of sandwich combinations to choose from, there is something to satisfy all different tastes! Their delectable list of in-house crafted alcoholic drinks pair extremely well with every item on their menu! Ranging from sweet and savory to dry and tart; what ever style drink you are compelled to, there is one here for you. With a friendly staff and waiting team paired with a quick and skilled kitchen team, you will not find yourself waiting for your food for long before you're digging in! If I could give 10/5 stars, I absolutly would! Truly a magnificent experience and I CANNOT WAIT to return here. Side note- Our waiter John was extremely kind and personable to us. He ensured we had everything we needed and checked on us frequently while also servicing his other tables the same. Truly a phenomenal young waiter who deserved every penny of the tip. Thank you John!!

Not sure what is going on here. We have been here several times but months before yesterday’s experience, and we were big fans of it. We ordered directly through SSS website, which now apparently uses Chow Now to complete. Order went through, receipt was received. Placed the order at 6:30 PM, initially the site told us 7:15 PM pick up. By the time I checked out it was 7:30 PM. Show up at 7:30 to be told my order isn’t ready yet. I wait 10-15 minutes, and am asked again for my name, and upon double checking, am told my order was cancelled by Chow Now (When I spoke with Chow Now today, they assured me someone with a tablet on your end cancelled the order). By now it is 8:00. The manager tells me they will put the order in and it will be done in 15 minutes. By this time, my husband and I are beyond exasperated. I normally don’t complain about negative experiences within the restaurant industry. especially in the last year or two. I get that it is incredibly stressful and mostly thankless. But this experience was different. During the time I waited for my food, I witnessed several interactions with staff that, as a manager of a current business, and a former business owner of 11 years, would make me cringe if I witnessed it. As an example, when asked to explain what happened with our order, one of your employees just got up from her stool and said “I’m not going to deal with this”. You had other employees coming from the outside in cussing at each other, at the kitchen staff and patrons. It was eye popping. I would have fired people on the spot. To whomever owns this establishment, I really hope you can fix whatever is going on. Sincerely, Kathryn Peckham

I have never been to a more delicious sandwich shop. They have the best sandwiches, hands down! Also, our waitress was attentive and super kind! She offered awesome recommendations. We ordered the Grover, Hoover, and the Carter. Both fried chicken sandwiches came with a generously portion of flavorful fried chicken. The chicken in the Grover is tossed in buffalo sauce, so it's not sopping the bun in buffalo sauce. The honey butter of the Hoover gave the sandwich the hint of sweetness I appreciate with fried chicken. The pork shoulder in the Carter was so tender. It was incredibly soft and juicy. The BBQ sauce was just enough that it didn't turn it into a sloppy sandwich. The jalapeño slaw was a great addition. For sides we tested out the fries (side of honey mustard/buffalo sauce), sweet potato waffle fries (side of roasted garlic mayo), and society chips. All great, but insider tip add the society chips on your sandwich for some extra crunch. Awesome. Also, the thing I loved most is their delicious society pickles...I could have had a whole appetizer of just their pickles. They are that flavorful and delicious! I am from out of town, so unlucky for me I cannot eat through their whole menu, but I wish I could! I cannot wait until I am back in town because I will absolutely be going back and trying a new sandwich. They all seem so delicious I doubt you can go wrong! The only way to go wrong is to not stop in the Secret Sandwich Society!

Place rocks. I'm not a liberal, this place has a liberal vibe, but food is good and the staff is quick and attentive. I'd visit again. I had a burger with bacon, peppers and blue cheese spread without a bun and brussel sprouts. My daughter had a grilled cheese and wife the Dolly salad. Worth a trip.

This place is a great find. Semi-tucked away although on the corner with a quasi-cafe style outdoor seating area, the ambience they offer and create is calm and relaxing. The food is made to order so it may take ten minutes or so for a walk-in order to be ready, but it's well worth the wait. Creatively titled sandwich options and sides are on the menu. The menu isn't extensive, but this is a good thing. What they have, they make well and it's delicious. Make it a point to visit when in Richmond for a tasty lunch.

Oh maño, this is my new favorite place to sandwich.... My girlfriend had the Fillmore, which was one of a kind, like a Italian done vegetarian. She's been vegetarian for 25 years and I know this was one of her favorites ever! I had a burger, which was amazing as well. I suspect everything they do is amazing. Can't wait to get out again, their bar looks like a nice place to chill. They are open now, at a reduced capacity. Will be back!
