We just did part of this with the kids. It was a blast and the kids loved paddling through the creek. We started at the Cottonwood lake boat launch cuz we didn't want to Portage 4 kayaks over the ridge from Finger lakes. The lakes were calm and the connecting creeks were slow. We were in kayaks and there were a few places we scraped the rocks, but just barely. There is a tunnel under a road from Cottonwood Lake to get to Mud Lake. The kids had fun in it. We stopped at the Seward Meridian parkway. We paddled back to The Cottonwood Lake boat launch. There was someone fishing for trout on the creek. Looking at the creek to Wasilla lakes and after it seems like it would be doable to float a lot farther down. Not sure what it looks like to go under the Parks highway.

Had a 44 experience. Fun and memorable but uneventful. Will definitely be back for more excercising and fishing trips.

Always an awesome time on the canoe trail. Great for paddleboarding, kayaking or canoeing.

Definitely just a drop in spot for the canoe trail. Also seems to be a spot for local teens to hang out later in the evening. Would've like to see it better kept, there was a large pile of garbage near the entrance...but at least it was picked up.
