Many Sevier Countians lost power over the Christmas holidays. My family included. While the experience was quite frustrating, (to say the least) so is dealing with extreme and adverse conditions, these hardworking teams are working with when struggling to restore our services. I am thankful for the men and women at SCES for their dedication and their sacrifice. Thank you and Happy New Year!

There is no doubt this area must be challenging to maintain and restore power. HOWEVER... at some point SCES needs to, should seek to update their systems and be more proactive. We've lived here over 20 years and response time for power outages has always been poor. If you know a storm is coming, why not contact other companies and set up potential help if needed? Especially if you are understaffed to begin with. Why not improve your online systems so you can let customers know whats going on? Check out Duke Energy in SC. They have a wonderful system of keeping customers informed. Information is key to helping people stay calm and hopeful. There is no easy solution but .... 1. Update your response systems! 2. Staff appropriately and be proactive for an emergency situation 3. Communicate better with your customers 4. Tell us how you prioritize response. Its frustrating to be without power for 3 days and look out and see the cabins in the mountains have power and you dont. 5. And... what about the elderly? Do you think they have cell phones? Do you think they are always capable of firewood etc.? What about ems situations? Maybe we could be more human and less about money! Sevierville has many wonderful qualities but this situation doesn't seem to have grown and updated with the times!

Power out xmas eve. today in the night of the 27th STILL NO POWER, CABINS NEXT DOOR GOT FIXED FAST. they care NOTHING about locals, only tourist dollars, as we freeze and sit in the dark. They use covid as an excuse but that doesnt excuse power being restored next door due to cabins and bypassing us as locals.
