I never thought giving blood would be so much fun!!!The guys working there were hilarious and made my blood giving experience a blast! They were extremely professional and even made me this cute bow bandage. UPDATE: I still have a blast donating blood and donate every time I’m eligible. The staff there can’t be beat, so awesome! Jerry deserves a raise, he rocks!

I did the online screening, which i believed i was good to donate (with the only exception being if my iron level was high enough). So i made the appointment, took the time off work and drove to the location. Once i got there, a lady took me in a room to review my screening answers. That is when i was told i was never qualified to donate blood because i lived in Germany for 2 years in the early 1990's. She said it was due to the Mad Cow and the CDC had stated anyone that spent more than a few months in certain countries overseas could not donate because the virus can live in your brain for the rest of your life. That of course freaked me out and i got home and contacted my doctor. Thankfully that is not the case and the CDC's own site states only if you spent 3 or more months in the UK. Last time i checked, Germany was NOT in the UK. So either the online screening tool needs to be fixed, or that employee needs educated on the CDC's guidelines. So thanks for wasting my time and scaring me.

As a first time donor I had a great experience. It only took about an hour to get my paperwork set up and help save lives. Jerry was the man! There is no pressure and the staff was so friendly to work with. Your comfort is their number one priority. If you have an hour to get set up and donate i highly suggest you do so. Not only do you get to find out your blood type and keep track of your health, you get the satisfaction of helping save lives. If you continue to donate you can even get movie tickets or amazon gift cards. They have juice and snacks provided and the clinic is very friendly. You really cant lose and you can help your community for very lottle effort. The actual time they draw blood is about 7-10 minites after they get your info.
