Stop to talk. The owner spent 20 minutes with me answering every question I had. I asked hard, pointed questions, he gave me detailed, honest answers
I was lead to believe that my stove was “safe” after I paid to have it inspected at the stove depot, so I had them do some work on it to prepare it for winter. My chimney inspection came back poorly, so I sold the stove to a fellow employee at my company. Once the buyer went to go pick up the stove, an employee at the stove depot told him that the stove was not worth what he spent on it (200 dollars) and that it was not safe. I was about to put this stove in a house with my two year old son. I attempted to sell it after I had the stove depot do 150 dollars worth of work to get it new gaskets and clean it out. The fact that I was lead to believe that this was something that was suitable to put under a roof that my two year old is under, and then someone else comes by for the same stove and it all of a sudden is not suitable makes me cringe. The stove depot was trying to get me to spend money to fix it, and literally could care less about if it was safe to put in my house. I would not recommend the stove depot to anyone for any restoration or judgement calls about whether their stove is in working condition. Untrustworthy.
Our experience overall was very positive. Not only did the Stove Depot listen to what we needed...they offered solutions that came under budget and exceeded our expectations. We could not be happier with our entire purchase process. From initiation to installation the Stove Depot is the place to go. Our new gas stove downstairs is beautiful and we can't wait to start using our upstairs fireplace again as well (they helped with needed maintenance).
