I have stopped here often and love it. This time I found I have lost some stamina during self isolation and was breathing heavily by the time I entered the building. There was parking without the hill on the other side. Just be aware of signs. This spot is shared by east and west bound traffic. To get the best handicapped parking you have to circle and may get disoriented and exit going the wrong direction.

The Tennessee Welcome Center is a great location to rest or get information on that state's popular destinations or site setting locations. What I appreciate most about this center are the available brochures and on hand attendants that keep this welcome center clean and comfortable. I mean there are vending machines that are well stocked and restrooms that are clean and accessible 365/24/7. Although this welcome center is comparatively smaller than I have visited on my journeys, it does prove to be a safe place to relax and take a snooze or two before continuing that journey. Furthermore, the Tennessee Welcome Center is a great place to meet other travelers and the local State Troopers when they are visiting the site during their tours.

It doesn’t matter how nicely groomed or how many amenities are provided when the one thing you need a rest area for—rest—is not permitted. The sign says, “No Overnight Camping”. My dog and I car camp at rest areas when we travel. While that sounds clear, it is not. The semi-trucks seem to be settling in for the night. During Covid, the last thing I want is to stay in a hotel where people breath all over each other, and you never know how clean the rooms really are—of germs. In every state through which we have traveled, we have found a nice corner for a private night’s sleep. Now, it’s nearly 7 pm. I have a sore throat, and need to feed my dog and rest, and now I have to find a camp ground. Thanks Tennessee for being more concerned about the gift shop than the actual travelers. I did notice the truckers settling in for the night though.

Great rest stop. Clean bathroom and a lovely waiting/sitting area with rocking chairs. I love that they play music all day. It always gives me something to look forward when we stop

Awesome rest area. I bet its even more beautiful in the summer. I just watched the tree in front of me and the falling snow. Took my 10 hour rest from truck driving here...its about 60 miles east of Nashville on the 40

Friendly folks who're glad to inform you on Tennessee's many sights and attractions, as well as the state's history. It's also a good rest stop, as most people stay there for around 2 hours before hitting the road again.
