The Copenhagen may seem a bit sterile at first glance with its white-washed walls and simple decor, but the restaurant offers tasty sips and bites. The red beets used to make the Danish martini gives the drink not only a rich color, but an even richer taste that goes well with the Aquavit. The Danish cooler was tasty too, and the scent of fresh cucumber amazing strong and present in both aroma and flavor. There were only 3 entrees to choose from, vegetarian, fish, or duck. While flavorful and nicely plated, the hake and duck tasted just average, and I would've expected a bit more quantity for the price. Service was awesome. I would go back for happy hour.

Home run, grand-slam, knocked the ball right out of the park! The 5 of us, including a few experts in Danish cuisine, were beyond delighted with our dinner! From the courtesy phone call a few hours before our reservation to the friendly greeting at arrival, every detail was authentic Danish hospitality. We asked for a little Danish perspective for the Americans in our party and were soon greeted by manager Morton, who shared with us a bit of Danish history on the smorbrod tradition/style of cuisine and quite simply made us feel welcome. Had I not known I was in Manhattan everything about the place took me back to Denmark...the beer, the aquavit, the creamed herring, beef tar tar, duck...all---perfect! We will be back again and again!
We had a wonderful time eating at Aamanns. The food is delicious, especially the fish (can't remember the name of the plate). The owner came over and said hello and the staff was very nice. Highly recommended and reasonable prices.
Fantastic food, beautiful interior design, the great bread (buy some and take it home) and the menu of beers are just a few reasons to go here. Aamanns has such a great vibe. Back to the food - it is super fresh, innovative, designed beautifully and the service is professional yet friendly and very accommodating. This is a favorite place of mine.
Tasty food; really well prepared and delicious. Service was a mess, though. Cocktails ordered when we sat down didn't come until our second course. There was a ridiculous mix up with the dessert, too. Service was overall slow and confused.
Great Danish gem hidden on the edge of Chinatown. Traditional small plates - make sure to order a few smørrebrød per person. Service was gracious and friendly. Gorgeous space for a party! Highly recommend the akvavits!
OK, I'm from Denmark. On the last day of a 10 day biz-trip took my 2 Chinese companions to try "something Danish". We had a breakfast: Freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, roll (locally produced) and homemade rye-bread with 2 homemade marmalades and cheese, and (locally produced) pastry/croissant. In the Scandinavian settings with Danish furniture design classics (extended all the way to the clean and neat restroom) the experience was like getting a "we miss you"-kiss from Denmark. Very friendly and service minded waiting, brewing the best café latte I've had for a long time. One of my companions had the marmalade as favorite of the toppings, the other Chinese the cheese. I loved every bite. Wherever you're from – don't miss out on this little pearl.
Welcome addition to the neighborhood and destined to become the local canteen for the soon to open adjacent studios, so go while you can. Where else would you try and enjoy a herring sampler?
