Richard's Music was a most excellent happenstance for me. I'm a delivery driver. I bought a snark and some picks..(I'm at work so I really can't \shop\)and while I'm not from the area (Detroit metro /Downriver) this store is more than I have come to expect over the past decade. Plenty of stuff ...good service...knowledgeable...and professional...these kinds of stores are taking a big hit b/c online shopping is taking away from you the true experience of a a real music store. Make the Stop You won't regret it.

Having lived in Southern California for over 15years; I had a go-to place to pursue any musician-ship needs in instrument or extras; a spot that musicians frequent for specialty items. Since moving and now living in Sylvania, OH for over 6 years; I found that Richard's Music shop on Central Ave is that really cool spot for me now. If you’re an aspiring musician come see for yourself and be sure to talk with the musicians/staff that work there for any musical need. That’s definitely bonus!
Friendly and helpful place with more instruments than anywhere else or the ability to get them. Decided to get each of my kids an instrument for Christmas and ended up at guitar center but they didn't have violins. After searching around online nowhere could guarantee delivering it prior to Christmas so I checked out a couple of other local places that had some beat up looking stuff or none. I ended up at Richards Music on the Tuesday the week of Christmas and they had almost 10 violins hanging in plane sight. After telling the guy the size I was looking for he checked the price of the violin which was way above my price range so I thought I was SOL but he grabbed the owner out of the back and I talked to him about what I was looking for and he told me he could order what I needed and get it in on Thursday, Christmas Eve. I was skeptical but didn't really have any other option but when Christmas Eve rolled around they gave me a call when it was delivered and the guy hooked me up with information on multiple private teachers. I was extremely happy with my experience.
I purchased the music stand here for my wife and it was broken right out of the box. Tried to bring stand back for a replacement within an hour of purchase and they did not have a replacement and he said they were on order. Two weeks later still no stand and they're on backorder, so he says and they do NOT do refunds. He refused to give a refund and we would have to wait. I was hoping to support local business but I will be buying a replacement on Amazon, I do not recommend this business.
Whoever I talked to (I’m assuming not the owner) wasn’t pleasant at the least. I had some questions on a resell and every time I tried talking I was interrupted with “I’m not the one to ask” without the question even being asked LOL very poor service. Do not recommend
