Had a great experience on the Uwharrie in a canoe. River level was about 3.2ft, was a perfect level and a great paddle. I don't think I'd do the trip much lower than 3ft though. River current is pretty decent so paddling was not too hard. Not very many places to get out and enjoy the water, although there are some there if you take the time to look for them. Boat was fine, service was excellent. Overall my 8 y.o. daughter and I had a great time and would gladly do it again.

We went kayaking and canoeing this past July 4th and had an amazing time! And yes, we observed social distancing. (Aside from loading boats, not a very social activity anyway.) This place was quite popular on a holiday so you should call ahead to check how busy they are. And you should know the river isn't always available due to rain. First come fist serve. The folks at Uwharrie Hoof & Paddle made our outing easy and hassle free. I'd definitely come back.

We went kayaking yesterday 7/18/2020 on the river with high waters! We knew this and knew it would be strong currents. What we did not know was that these kayak’s DON’T have plugs or you do not get a pump either. So if you turn over it is absolutely impossible to get the water out because the banks are about 10 feet high, so you can not get to them!! Lucky these strong three guys came behind us and were able to stand hooked together And holding on to a tree to get the water out, so we were able to continue down the river. The kayaks are not new, so just to be warned.... you only get the basic... I mean basic materials.... they are old kayaks!

Worth. Every. Penny. Wonderful owners, great equipment, and an AMAZING adventure. We drove from Salisbury, NC because of their prices and the idea of kayaking on a moving river instead of a calm lake. We shall be returning multiple times this year.

Very nice people. Very knowledgeable of the area and willing to take the extra step for you. I even walked out of there with some hybrid vegetables! Definitely going back!
