This is the least musical UU community I've known. The attitude seemed that music was to be doled out as little snacks; sample size packages only. Maybe someone in the distant past thought music should be rehearsed and performed, not an event to promote feelings of connection. It gave a dryness to Sunday mornings that exhausted me. For awhile I taught RE and loved it; I had a massive children's book collection I could draw on for almost any subject. I felt more welcome by the kiddos than the church overall. It's been quite awhile since I attended and I'm reviewing to point out it takes one of you- just one- to help a person feel welcome. It takes one of you and another of you and another to build that sense of community that was so often lacking. I cried the first time I was there because no one said boo or acknowledged me. I greeted people, especially when they looked newly arrived but never found community outside Sunday mornings. I hope it's all better but I shed too much enthusiasm there to try again.

I am eternally grateful for the community at UUCB. Not only are they a spiritual home for myself and many of their members. They are also a pillar of what it means to stay in the work for a more just and inclusive tomorrow. This is visible not only through the worship services and practices of the church, but through their partnerships with community organizations to share space and other resources. UUCB is truly not just a space for Unitarian Universalists but for all those in Boulder seeking a loving and welcoming community.

Well, funeral memorials are not conducive to great reviews, but, the room was large, clean and available. Membership in church was not required.
