I honestly wish I could give negative rating because nobody is helpful here. The process to appeal a contract here is a nightmare. Please have a lawyer on standby and do not hesitate to use them because it seems that is the only thing that works. Go somewhere else. DO NOT STAY AT ANY OF FSU HOUSING. You have been warned.

The rooms are extremely small and it is almost impossible to get a bedroom to yourself. Housing will come in whenever they please to do room checks or preform maintenance. Also most of the time sharing a bedroom with someone is terrible. Its normal to wake up at 3am to a drunk roommate coming in. Plus when you sign the contract there is no way to know which dorm hall you get. As long as you have a car just go live off campus. It is cheaper and better.

Disappointed Former Staff

They treat their staff horribly. I was hired as an RA for the summer term. I put everything into my job. I loved interacting with my residents and building community within our residence halls. Nothing made me happier than getting to be a mentor for incoming students. The position was more than just a job to me. I was considered an “Alternate” RA for the fall semester (as in not hired). My friend who was also an alternate was told that male RAs were in demand, as in you’re not even going to be looked at if you’re female if there’s a male looking to be hired. A co-worker of mine fell below the GPA requirement for the summer and they remained on staff, while alternates were looked over. My supervisor fought for that co-worker to remain on staff but did not fight for the alternates making good grades to be re-hired. I was told by staff that they basically were just trying to fill seats of openings during training. As in they didn’t really care who was hired to look after your students. Meanwhile many alternates chose to give up their time to work the summer semester and were not even given a second glance. They don’t care about the people that really want to make a difference. Overall, housing at FSU is not a bad experience. You’ll have some of the best memories from residence hall living, but don’t try to work for them.

Unhappy Student

Beware of the Dorm Contract. The rooms are terrible even in the supposed new buildings. Much better housing available close by. School seems to want to mislead young adults into thinking they must sign to get best room choice for lottery. Staff unwavering, cold and not helpful!

Had such a great tour of the dorms. The dorms are way better than I would've ever expected, and they are set up so beautifully. The newer dorms are definitely an A, and the honors dorms, too. Maybe not Solley, though. No offense to that dorm. But overall, I'm really happy I got to check out the dorms here because they're looking good, and it was a good experience. Thank you, FSU!
