Black People Who Hike

We love Upper Limits in Maryland Heights! We had a large group meetup last Sunday 1.19.20. This was our third time here and we prefer it over the other two locations in St. Louis. It is the best location for rock climbing and has a decent bouldering options. We made the mistake of going to the Chesterfield location once and realized it was primarily for bouldering. The staff was very accommodating to our large group and Nicole the Marketing Director came over and introduced herself which was very nice. We love Upper Limits because it is a great indoor activity for us when the weather is bad. It is not hiking but is still very challenging, uplifting, great for team building and pushing each other out of our comfort zones! We highly recommend indoor rock climbing and this location in particular!

My son had the absolute best time rock climbing at Upper Limits! It is the perfect setup for a young kid (my son is 5) or an adult, I can't wait to go back and climb with him! And the Covid precautions were excellent as well -- highly recommend!

A very fun place to go climbing. They have a lot of walls with varying levels of difficulty, auto belays so that of you want to climb on your schedule and a boulder. I love that the routes change on a regular basis so it feels fresh. The people are all nice, not just the employees but also the other climbers. If you ever need tips or thoughts how to attack a route, people seem to always be happy to talk through them. They have a sale every January that makes a yearly membership very affordable.

I had a great time in Holly's lead class. She really takes the extra time to make sure everyone is learning at a comfortable pace.

Great place that is very family friendly! I bring my 3 year old and 2 year old there and they have an absolute blast. The staff give them fist bumps and calls them little crushers, making me feel more at home, which can be a great relief as a parent-so much so that I can get some bouldering in while the boys have a snack at a table next to the boulder. Very flexible staff that will work with you and a great gym will all of the options.

The building was a little tucked away, but really enjoyed going. They were very understanding and detailed for a group that had never done rock climbing. Definitely would recommend for a workout and good time with friends. Went on a Sunday and while it was a little busy, it wasn’t intimidating for new climbers.

Holly is the best! She was my instructor for the intro to climbing four week class and I just took the lead class with her and her instruction is unmatched. She’s always willing to go the extra mile to make sure her students feel comfortable and progress at their own pace I seriously cannot give her more positive reviews thanks Holly!

We had a lot of fun at Upper Limits. We bought a Groupon deal for the Two-Hour Rock Gym 101 Class and same day climbing for two with equipment included (GREAT DEAL). Highly recommend if you want to explore more of the walls at the facility. Without the course there are 10 walls available with auto-belays. The class went by relatively quick, instructors were nice, and the course was very hands on. I’ll never forget how to tie figure 8 knot. The range of walls and difficulty was great, beginner-expert. Staff was super nice, very covid safe. Definitely recommend if you’re feeling cooped up and want a good workout.
