They spend to much time on there phones and little time watching the ocean.... For years I was always impressed by lifeguards here. Not anymore after my post two days ago I thought it was better. They were all doing their training right at 8th Street. Very impressive and the lifeguard that day who had a mustache always watch the water. However yesterday it was horrible. It was bring your girlfriend to work day. Around noon time I noticed a young lady talkin to the Lifeguard for more than an hour. At first it appeared that it was just flirting. The Lifeguard who was there several days this week at 8th Street always had a gray t-shirt on. He was on his phone I'm talking to this young lady Non-Stop not watching the water. Around 3:30 he took his lunch hour and left for the same young lady. Of course they came back together and it was even worse in the afternoon. She was actually climbing on the Lifeguard stand and he was leaning down to talk to her. Then she was laying on the sand right in front of the stand. It was like watching two 9th graders as they started throwing things back and forth at each other. Believe me he was not watching the water at all. Then he started feeding the singles. Someone in that organization should look at this lifeguard just unbelievable hours on the beach what his what appeared to be his girlfriend acting like to school kids not doing his job. On the bright side the one with the mustache 2 days ago was always paying attention to his job and ironically he did the best job with their Fitness training in the morning. Two extremes. If I was there with young children I would have been on the phone to find out what was being done about this guy and his girlfriend and they're play date on the beach he clearly was not doing his job

Have you guys heard of Doppler radar This is the second time after a very brief 10 minutes storm has passed that you mandate everyone leave the beach. simply by looking at a radar you can see the storm is gone and nothing else is coming. I don't like being ordered by little children to an adult that you're not allowed to be in a public location especially if there is no threat. it's literally sunny out and you have kids running around with whistles telling people to get off the beach as though there is an imaginary disaster that is eminent. I'm thankful that you guys want to save people they don't need to boss people around if there's no danger which can be observed by simply looking at your phone. Don't let fear rule your decisions because it's literally sunny outside right now but no one is allowed on the beach which is a drastic loss financially as people will not want to return to that nonsense

Female lifeguards in thongs? Is this a joke? This is a family beach! I can't believe that this is allowed. You definitely get an eyeful when they stand in the chair and bend over to put sunscreen on. Some of these women look like they're auditioning for a strip club. I hope Virginia Beach tourism and management recognize that families would prefer to feel comfortable bringing their children to a beach where the lifeguards at least look like they want to save lives instead of showing off their bodies.

Kudos to the lifeguards in front of VB Hilton, today. They rescued several young girls who were out too far. They were in the water in mere seconds! Great job! Thank you for keeping us safe.

Props to these hardworking peeps! I witnessed a lost child report in action and they found him on a crowded beach in about 2 minutes. That guy/gal sitting high in those white chairs is really watching out for everyone! Way to go y'all!!!
