Volcano, United States
N/A
This is our second time here. Last we came were just before 2018 eruption- the look out observatory is closed now, the new look out is much farther. There is a volcano house restaurant looking right into the old angle, try that for better angle. However as you can see from pics this is just as stunning too. I am sure they closed it due to safety reason. If you visit plan a trip such that you see it in day light n post sunset when it gets dark. It has its own charm.

Great lookout from top. There are couple of trails with very good views. Good shoes is a most. Some interesting plants. Most part of the road up is a single lane for both ways. Otherwise, the drive up is not that bad.
Love the view from way up here. Just a tiny bit sad that I was up there a week too early to catch the eruption from there.
It was raining but still got to see the volcanos, the view was to beautiful to describe. Just awesome to be there.
I don't really understand why this was so highly recommended. Maybe it would've been better if it weren't partly cloudy? Best park was that we saw an owl at dusk.
The drive up can be a bit challenging, but it's worth seeing the lava flows on the way up and the view from the lookout.
From this point is a 10 mile hike ONE WAY, UP HILL if you want to get to the top of the Mt. So coming to this lookout is a waste of time if you want to go all the way up. You'll have to drive down to Volcano, up to Hilo, and another hr west to the other route up the Mt. It's a pretty view of the National Park most hikers were actually backpacking, for experienced hikers ONLY.
Be prepared to drive a bit..view is ok..seen better on senic byway on side of road..taking a chance to drive up there when Misty rain could block ur view..but the roadside scenery is really nice..
