I recently joined Maui Dive Shop's two-tank Molokini (front/back) boat trip. Overall, the trip was fun, and I was glad that I was able to experience the back wall of Molokini despite being a very newly-certified diver. My guide on this trip was fun and entertaining on the boat, and they gave us decent food, which was appreciated. Here are the couple things that kept me from giving it a fifth star, but again it was an overall fun thing to do. Just sharing for the sake of informing others: 1. Underwater, I felt like my guide was less engaged, and less informative/helpful, than my guides on other dives during my stay. Not to some extreme, but noticeable. That may well be by design to some extent, as I know more experienced divers sometimes prefer that the guides leave them to do their own thing. But this did not feel like that sort of situation. 2. Like I said, I am really new to diving and do not have a lot of experience with different operators. However, it was not lost on me that this shop supplied less air and sent us for safety stops much higher than the other shops. I did several dives during my stay with three different shops. The other two seemed to uniformly send people out with 3,000 psi and send people up with around 700 psi in 80 cf tanks. On both the front and back of Molokini, the best-case scenario for this trip was 2,700 starting psi -- some people were actually starting a bit below that. And we were sent up at 900 psi while the guide stayed down with one last local diver.

Did the Molokini crater inside and back wall dives. Trip was great. Fun knowledgeable and professional crew. Well organized. The dives were good, maybe a little short on surprises. Whale watching on the way there and back was a treat.
This review is more about the diving itself than the staff. As most people have already stated, the staff was great, absolutely nothing to complain about there. Friendly, helpful, reasonable size groups. Two thumbs up. Unfortunately, the diving was very average. I understand you can't control the weather or visibility, but part of a great dive experience is knowing where to go based on conditions. Our first dive (which ended up being a shore dive despite beautiful weather) was downright boring. Some fish here and there, but overall just dull. (Others on the boat were saying the same exact thing.) Our second dive was at the manta ray area and yes, we did see a few rays, which was SUPER cool but the experience was a little odd because you basically have 10 divers literally chasing down rays when one is seen. If you're going to dive with Maui I would recommend trying to schedule it for the morning when the ocean is calm so hopefully the first dive is somewhere more interesting.
We had an amazing experience with Maui Dive Shop. The dive masters were all awesome. We felt so loved and taken care of--from all of the delicious food (seriously, SO much food..yum!), to their clear and concise briefings, to their knowledge of the sea life. Bryan was so friendly and made me feel so at ease (I don't have a ton of dives under my belt). John was also very helpful and gave me some tips on how to not go through my air so fast--and it actually worked! I am usually such an air hog, but his breathing tips helped me stay down for the entire dive! All of the dive masters were also very interactive under the water. They were very good at pointing out the sea life, using a writing board to share the names of the fish, blowing awesome air rings, etc. We were just so well taken care of and had a great experience from start to finish! I would highly recommend Maui Dive Shop!
Great boat dives. Great people. Dive shop people were great. We went when there was high surfs. They cancelled the dive cause of low visibility, and refunded us the whole amount. They seemed to care about the dives not just the money.
Dive shop was great. We really enjoyed all the dive masters. We dove with Dave and Brandon who were both awesome! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Def worth coming visiting these guys.
Went on an unforgettable SCUBA trip with Maui Dive Shop to Molokini and Turtle Town. The crew was GREAT! They were professional, had an awesome sense of humor (had us laughing the entire time) and was outstanding dive crew. I highly recommend Maui Dive Shop!
