I've been a member of Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church for over 10 years and have watched it grow over the years to be a vibrant, inclusive congregation with something for everyone. What I love most about MVPUMC is that everyone can be real right away. It's a friendly and authentic church that cares about serving those in our community and has done a lot to partner with our unhoused neighbors. Pastor Donna's sermons are down to earth and compelling. People are there for you in your hardest times and share your joys with you. After years of being open with the church battling infertility and our members sharing in my grief, our church now enjoys watching our son dance to the beautiful organ music and our choir. There is a great nursery and many young families here. I have also participated in a small group almost from the beginning and have felt those groups be my anchor for each week. I grew up Catholic (many of us at MVPUMC did!) and had no idea that I could feel so much more spiritual as a Methodist and with this church. I love my church, my pastor and our congregation, and would love any newcomer to see all the beauty I see about Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church! Five stars and beyond for sure!

We’ve started a family here, built lasting and deep friendships, learned lots about following God in the way of Jesus, and joined in on lots of service ministries AND some emerging social and environmental justice work! This is my favorite place in DC. I visited on and off for seven years before joining. I was always warmly welcomed and fondly remembered. There is a space for everyone here. On any Sunday you can find A combination of DC professionals, folks struggling and living on the street, gay, straight, black, white, and all kinds of other people you can imagine. You can come and talk to no one or come and talk to everyone. Some folks come every week and some are just tourists visiting for the weekend.

I've been a member of this church for a little over a year now and love everything about it. the pastor is warm, genuine and caring. her sermons are thoughtful and thought provoking. i feel like i have grown so much being a part of the church. but the sermons are only one part of the church. the people are a big part of the church and emulate the pastor's values - everyone is welcome, no one is judged. everyone is welcome and everyone is welcomed.
