Adaptive Sports Foundation is located in Windham, United States on 100 Silverman Way. Adaptive Sports Foundation is rated 5 out of 5 in the category disabled sports center in United States. The Adaptive Sports Foundation (ASF) is a non-profit organization that provides profound and life changing experiences for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities and chronic illnesses through outdoor physical activity, education, support and community. ASF students are five years of age and older and live with disabilities ranging from relatively mild learning disabilities to more severe disabilities such as paralysis, autism, amputation, cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injury. Founded in 1984, the Foundation’s work promotes physical activity for children and adults with disabilities by offering winter programs for recreational skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, yoga and personal fitness. Additionally, the ASF supports a competitive race team for athletes with both physical and cognitive challenges, as well as a 12-week residential competition program for Paralympic eligible athletes. The ASF is proud to have been selected as a regional site for the dissemination of a year round program called Warriors in Motion; a program for troops injured in the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. ASF staff members conceived of and created this comprehensive program to provide participating troops with a basic understanding of wellness and the importance of lifelong healthful living. Participants are acquainted with such topics as healthy behavior change, stress management, mental health, nutrition and weight management, and physical fitness and activity.

I've been here twice now for disabled veterans event. I love the staff here. They treat you like a person first and then bring you in closer like your family. If I was able to make it to every event I would be there in less than a heart beat. They keep you right on the other side of your comfort zone but at your own free will. They have an encouraging way of supporting to push your own limits without allowing you to endanger yourself trying to be superman. They have a mix of full time staff and volunteers that all do their jobs from their hearts. The foundation works with civilians and veterans alike. I recommend any person with ANY disability that wants to get out and be a part of the outdoor sports world to start here.

One of my very few 5 star ratings. The staff and Volunteers seem to be absolutely genuine. They do amazing work here. Doesn't matter if you're disabled or not. Everyone should experience what happens here and seek to participate in someway at sometime. It would be great if you donate but this place is life enriching. You are depriving yourself and those around you if you don't partake of this place You drive up an endless winding hill to this magical villa appearing above the hills. You enter into a large hall. And in the far corner you can glimpse a window. A window into a room full of wonders. Where amputees, the wheel chair bound, people who can't look at others face to face. Disabled Veterans, children, people who limp, are wheeled, carried in to be fitted into these wondrous contraptions that let them glide out the back door and onto the mountain. The smiles are contagiousthe experience priceless.

I had an amazing time with my disabled veteran husband at this facility for a Wounded Warrior Project event. They taught both of us how to use recumbent bicycles. It allowed him to be able to still ride a bike despite his numerous injuries and allowed me to ride one despite not knowing how to ride a 2 wheeler. We also learned how to kayak. Despite my fear of flipping the kayak over because I can't swim, I was still able to go out on my own. It was my favorite part of our trip. The staff was amazing, friendly, patient, and encouraging. They made you feel like you could do anything no matter what your disability or level of skill. I normally don't like to do outdoor/nature type things. I'm more of a crafter. But they opened me up to wanting to do a lot more events like this. I can't wait to come back here again and bring my whole family.

I had a great, great, great experience at ASF and treated beyond my expectations. I hadn't been on skis well before my injury causing paralysis some 12yrs ago and now wonder why it took so long. I'll be back soon!!!
