So far I haven't had a ton of experience with Efficiency Vermont, but from what I've seen, I'm really impressed. We got a home energy audit through a contractor they connected us with, which gave us a clear roadmap to getting our home a lot better insulated, tighter, and more efficiently heated. They recommended a (relatively) inexpensive sprayfoam insulation job in our basement as a first step, and that's been AWESOME. Our home was so much warmer last year, and we burned less wood. Right now I'm, working with a local contractor in their network who told us about their heat saver loan (I think they just rebranded it as the "home energy loan" or something). Basically, it works out to 0% interest on a 5 year loan. In our case, we'll be getting a great cold climate heat pump system. The model we picked qualifies for a 1k rebate, which more than covers the installation cost. Since I found out about the 0% loan, I've been looking at all the things they offer on their website, and it's wild to me that I don't hear more people talking about it.There's all kinds of money saving help for Vermonters through Efficiency VT. Keep in mind, a lot of the best deals are for lower income households, but even if you're raking in millions you'd be silly not to check out all of their rebates, loan programs, home energy auditing deals, and appliance replacement-type programs. Final note: I was surprised to see so few reviews on here, and doubly surprised to see a one-star review about lightbulbs?? I don't think I understood their complaint exactly, but it sounds like they had trouble with a contractor, who was working through a housing trust, after already spending a bunch of money. So I guess their advice about looking into deals before starting your project is probably smart, but I haven't had (or heard of) anything like they described.

We had efficiency of vermont come to the house, windham and Windsor housing trust came as they had a contract with efficiency Vermont. What a joke... replaced a couple bulbs that were blown but not if they were missing, the majority of my light fixtures only have 1 bulb when they require 2. He told us it was the end of their contract so for anything else it (like replacing inefficient appliances that dont work properly) wouldn't happen because they were done. So if your in the beginning of the contract you get everything but at the end you get nothing. The contracted company should be monitored on there spending and allotted a monthly amount, that way everyone is treated equal. So we will have to try and get our own bulbs. Our hot water heater is electric and from the 70s. Our furnace I've cobbled to keep running with used parts. The whole house vibrates when running. This is why I rate them one star. And very frustrated, this is the second program that we have had in our home, the first was sevca who blew in insulation in our trailer floors and never reinforce to hold the weight. And now lies on the ground so there is no insulation in the floors and our floors are freezing. Very tired of programs that have actually done more damage than help and refuse to come back and fix there mistakes. A waste of funds and lack of knowledge that hurts the low income even more. Thank you
