I picked up a car that was dirty, didn't have the required amount of gas, and then became locked out of the car because the key cart technology stopped working, leaving me stranded in the cold and dark for over three hours without resolution. When they finally sent a tow truck, it was in SAN FRANCISCO. I'M IN NEW YORK. I had to beg and tell them I was concerned for my safety when they did relent and let me leave the car to find another way to get home, three hours away. I've received conflicting information EVERY TIME I called customer service about the status of helping my situation. To make matters worse, my wallet was locked in the car. It is now TWO DAYS later, and I am still struggling to get my property back. One of their reps told me it was not ZipCar's responsibility that my wallet was locked in their car and there is nothing they can do. UPDATE--now it is Tuesday, I was told my wallet would be delivered by the tow truck driver (didn't happen), via UPS overnight to receive Saturday (didn't happen), and then a manager yesterday was going to hand deliver it to me in the evening (didn't happen). UTTER FAILURE. STILL WAITING.

I wish I could post a review with zero stars. Up until recently, I had been a member of the Zipcar community for years but they really are the absolute worst. They company does not adhere to their own tenets and trying to be a member will cause more stress and frustration than anyone needs these days. Avoid at all costs and find another car share community.

They've messed up my application twice with no explanation of what happened (tried to blame it on my) and took my money twice, claiming that they dont give refunds under any circumstances. Terrible company and customer service is horrendous

3rd time in 2 months ZipCar messed up our plans. Two times a reservation disappeared in their system with no notice or explanation other than the rep saying their software was upgrades. They don't know their own inventory - one time I found a car they did not suggest online. They have limited inventory - can't find a replacement nearby in Manhattan. In the past, they've had issues and it's messed up plans several times as if there's an issue, they basically don't have a good solution. They will offer to pay for an Uber to take you somewhere inconvenient to pick up a car. How about having a staff member who can go get the car and bring it to your location on time? One time, the car I got was blocked in at the garage, and the guys there couldn't access it. This was to go to a friend's funeral. I had to rent a car at the last minute from another vendor - who had inventory unlike ZipCar. They also have failed several times to follow up on customer service actions e.g. I've requested call-backs from them after \escalation\ and no one has ever responded. Most recently spoke with Ivan employee ID 2420168 and requested a call-back within 30 minutes. No response.
