My father used these services for several months at the end of his life. The owner, Brenda, presents the “company” as able to staff in any situation, “even if I have to be here myself”, but when my father’s care needs expanded, she quickly stepped back and said that she could not cover that many hours, as they did not have enough staff for weekends or night shifts. We had a couple caregivers that were good, and one that was excellent. Be aware that the owner is not certified, and neither is the staff. The significance of this presented itself in a situation such as a worsening of my dad’s condition which was perceived as him being uncooperative with the caregiver. The caregiver was not astute enough to realize that dad was deteriorating, and called the owner. Then the owner called me to report that they “just didn’t know what to do with him because he was saying that he couldn’t get out of bed at all..., being uncooperative”. As a nurse, I immediately advised them to call 911 for transport to the hospital - something was very wrong. And it was, and he was then hospitalized. I would highly recommend the caregiver who was excellent with my dad, and will write her a personal recommendation, but I can not recommend Brenda Davis or the services of Sandhills Caregivers.
