The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is that it's rather small. However, it is quite nice. On Saturdays, they have a Family Art Activity(1-4), it's free and fun. My daughter absolutely loves the entire place, and exclaims loudly when we pass it. You should definitely check it out. We'll likely end up as Saturday regulars.

This museum and the trail of children's sculptures (including a Dr. Seus) that run through the downtown make a perfect stop for the whole family and/or art/literature lovers. The museum features the illustrations from a children's author and tells the stories of how they came to be. An attached art area offers some hands-on art opportunities for your littles (or you), and the attached bookstore offers many signed copies from authors who have been showcased. While there is so much for big kids, we took a toddler and a college student and had a blast. Hope to go back for a longer day of exploration.

Warm, friendly, knowledgeable vollunteer staff at front door, free admission and beautiful art. A great place to take preschool and elementary school children to see visual art and kids books. Wonderful gift store as well sells the books that are displayed on the walls. Fun place to learn about authors of children's literature. Not crowded.
