I love this Dojo and have been training under Nimz-sensei for almost 10 years.

This dojo is a gem that one would not expect to find in the middle of Kansas. Brandon Nimz's instruction is superb and he has very high standards for his students. Plus he's one of the nicest people you will ever meet. What makes the dojo really unique is the sense of community among the students. They are all friends and spend time together outside of class. If you are new to the area, interested in martial arts, or simply trying to make new friends, I can't recommend this dojo highly enough. Seriously, it changes people's lives. In addition to the nearly nightly class offerings, the Fort Hays Aikido Club is a part of the dojo, and they host two free seminars every year, bringing in very highly ranked Senseis from the Aikido Association of America. This is a big deal because those seminars usually cost around 200 per person. At least once a year Toyoda Sensei, the president of the association, comes out to teach a seminar and then the other seminar is taught by some of the association's most respected instructors. Every winter the club goes to Chicago, where the national headquarters is and train there for a week. Many of the dojo members go on the trip with them. Then there are also two extremely intensive camps aikido camps--one in the winter and the other in the summer. If you go to them you will be very sore, but your technique will improve dramatically. Joining this dojo was one of the best decisions I ever made, and it completely changed the trajectory of my life. Nearly every good experience I have had in the last six years started by deciding to go to one of those free seminars and give aikido a try. I met amazing people, learned of opportunities that led to incredible experiences, and got to throw people on the ground. What more can you want out of a place?
