I was on business in the Oakland Area and being and aviation and military buff of course I had to stop here. This Aircraft Carrier is historic in its own life. The ship does need some love and investment however the staff there are doing their best to keep this ship from deteriorating. With that being said please while you are there please donate to keep this fabulous lady as a great museum to educate many more people about our history. There is much to see and I do not want to spoil it for all of you, but you just have to check it out for yourself.

NOT enough time to see and experience it all in 3 hours....so much going on and every corners....will need to come back for sure if that's any Indication of how cool it was.
Just took the kids and they love it! Wish the engine rooms were open though! Parts are still closed due to covid, but just riding bikes and strolling around is an awesome weekend adventure! Then head to one of many craft beer and food trucks for lunch!
This place was amazing! There are Not many Naval Aircraft Carriers dated back in time like this left. It left me feeling so small up close. It had an A6 intruder aircraft on the flight deck. The elevator from the hangar bay to the flight deck was lowered and spectacular to see. It had its campaign ribbons displayed, it had 2 battle efficiency "E" awards. Definitely a place to put on a visit list.
Thank you to Mr. Allan Hirsch and the rest of the people at the USS Hornet for your service and dedication and for providing such an amazing experience aboard. What a great way to cap off a nice weekend with my brothers. Highly recommend you to stop by and check out the USS Hornet. I can't wait to make a return visit and bring my son so that he may have the same experience.
This is a great museum with great people! So much history here.
There is so much to see on this retired aircraft carrier. It’s actually one of the smaller aircraft carriers but it’s still massive. They have am Apollo space museum on the hangar deck and a good selection of planes on the flight deck. Admission was very reasonable and the ship is pretty much restored to its time in service.
Nice place for a history session... The ship hosts a few different naval planes and insight into crew quarters...
