I paid cash for an item for a gift for my daughter. The item was defective, I decided to give another unit a chance, and it was also defective. At this point I decided I wanted a refund to obtain another gift, but was informed that cash purchases only do not qualify for a refund. It was also presented to me that the receipt says this on it, but as receipts are not given until after a transaction is completed, this is of little use. No mention was made at the time of the transaction, but that's not what bothers me most. What bothers me is the policy itself. It is poor customer service to offer refunds for other types of transactions, but not for cash. It is inconceivable to me why this might be an actual policy other than to keep a segment of purchases in house. It is bad business as well. I will no longer shop at Spencer's, I would encourage others also avoid shopping there until the policy is changed. Very disappointed.
