My family and I have been coming here for 6 years and counting. Staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and fun! We turn the 6 mile kayak/ canoe trip into an all day adventure and staff is always accommodating. Rates are reasonable. Stopping points along the Au Sable are clean and beautiful. Highly recommend!
We rented a five person inflatable boat for a three hour tour down the AuSable river. The staff were very friendly and explained the trip including how to exit the river at the end point. The rental office is also a party store with beer, snacks, souvenirs, and practical things like sun block, insect repellent, and water proof cell cases. The have an ATM on site as well. My young sons had a great time. The valley that the canoe rental building overlooks is quite beautiful and is great for pictures. This is a must do if you are staying in Alcona area and if you are looking for somewhere to stay they are a camp ground as well.
Fortunately the river was awesome, and the water and weather were great, because if you have any value for your health or welfare, this place is completely irresponsible. During the worst pandemic in a century, they not only didn’t enforce masks but basically encouraged no masks with absolutely none of their employees wearing them. They seem to be nice people, but if we had known their policies we certainly wouldn’t have got on that bus, packed like sardines. We were a family all wearing masks and we were the only exceptions to their rule. Deep sigh.
Amazing customer service and camp ground. The front party store has a nice supply of the essentials and assortment of fun things for the river. I have been coming here for the past few years with my family and friends and they are always very accommodating. They drop you off on the river and pick you back and drive you back. Love this place!
