The Alexandria Virginia permit office is an JOKE! You can apply for a permit online and it will take 1 hour or longer to pick up and pay for the permit once you arrive, or you can wait for 3-5 business days for 1 of the employees at the permit office to get around to creating the permit and possibly contacting you. I work with every jurisdiction in VA, MD, and DC and Alexandria Virginia's permit office is by far the most ridiculous permit office in the metro area. Good luck to all the contractors that have to work with this horrid place.
