This was my second time eating Ethiopian food and it was GREAT! I love the service and the food was delicious. Currently Google has them listed as temporarily closed, but they are not! If you are planning on dining in, make sure to reserve your spot and ask for Rahel (she's super sweet!)

this place demonstrated to me all the beautiful things that i've come to know about ethiopians... not just from eating at their restaurants but having served them food as well. they are genuine, respectful, cultured, well travelled, quite family and community oriented. they really care about how they represent their culture and food. everything was cooked beautifully. one of my favorites was the mushroom stew. they were tenderly cooked with a very complimentary broth. we backed that up with the veggie platter and shrimp entree and both were mouth watering all the flavor combinations made me feel so happy that they are walking distance from me. mike, the owner says you are family when you eat there and knowing what family means to ethiopians you will be comfortable, at home, and well fed. ok... and most definitely pair it with a bottle of the Tequila Barrel Aged Sauvignon Blanc that they carry... delicious welcome to the neighborhood i will be back
I cannot recommend more highly. The food was great and the environment was covid safe and welcoming! Rahel made sure that our experience was special and we certainly will be coming back!
My husband and I are vegans and we had the veggie combo. The food was delicious! The owner was lovely and made us feel as if we were home. She offered great information about the history of Ethiopia and tips for future travel. Will definitely return in the future!
The customer service was amazing. The food was brought very quickly. The people working over here were very friendly and nice. The quality of the food was great and the temperature of the food was good. I am not a vegetarian but I had the vegetarian combination dish and it was really good. The ambience of the place also is very welcoming. I would definitely come back again.
I have been to this fabulous restaurant about 5 times! Each time the food is the highest quality, authentic Ethiopian cuisine in a warm and friendly clean dining room! They are open for business, ...despite what Google says! We dined - in tonite! GOOGLE ..... fix this!!!
I love not just Ethiopian food, but also the unique Ethiopian culture and its gracious hospitality and warmth of welcome. There is nowhere in the DMV that I have experienced not only great Ethiopian food, but also the beauty and warmth of welcome of the culture , like I have at Caffe Utopia. And I have been looking for the right place for a long time.. Today was my third visit, and I only wish that I had discovered this wonderful venue much sooner. There is truly something for everyone, not least of all vegans and vegetarians. Experienced Ethiopian diners will be very much at home, and yet the restaurant and its menu will not be intimidating to first timers. The restaurant is easily accessible from Alexandria, Arlington, and the District, and there is ample parking and ease of access. Do not be deterred by Google and Yelp's previous notices that the restaurant is temporarily closed. The source of that misinformation has been discovered and addressed, and the restaurant is very much OPEN. The restaurant is warm and inviting, and there is plenty of room to dine safely. Please do patronize this wonderful establishment. You will be glad you did!
Cafe Utopia is OPEN!! Despite what it says on Google (Temporarily Closed), it is open. Not only that, but the food was delicious, it was prepared fast and exactly to my liking, and the customer service was great. Would highly recommend it!
