The concept behind Captain Gregory's is a good one- a speakeasy inside a plant-based donut shop. Genius. Here's what's to love: 1) Concept: It's one that attracts all types of people. The inside is dark and feels like a true speakeasy with candles lit and a lone bartender making craft cocktails. During the pandemic, they have outdoor seating and limit inside seating to help keep everything safe. 2) Food: There's a small menu of small plates like brussels sprouts and even seasonal donuts. When I went, they have 7-8 donut flavors available. 3) Service: It's stellar. The person who greeted us once we raised the flag to open the wall to get in was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The only thing to note is the cocktail list is unique, but skews a more sweet palate. I have a sweet tooth and found my drink a bit too sweet. My housemate likes stiff drinks and thought he ordered one, but it ended up very sweet. Also, the prices are 15 per cocktail, a little expensive.

A very cozy hole in the wall, hidden inside a bakery. Reservations required, and lots of outdoor seating available out back. High end adventurous cocktails are so incredibly flavorful and unique. Small plate menu includes rotating seasonal donuts, from which the place takes its name. Chartreuse tastings imported from a monastery are available for those looking for something you definitely won’t find anywhere else, a real treat for botanical lovers.

The drinks were amazing and got me buzzed faster than I expected. After the first drink I was questioning if I needed another. You wouldn't expect the drinks to be so potent because the taste is pleasant and the drinks are average/small. The lounge was intimate and the staff knew a good amount about the menu. Our waitress was knowledgeable on palettes and was able to recommend something to both my partner and I based on a few key words we used. I am only giving a 4 star because our reservation was at 8 pm and they were completely out of more than half their food items early.

Really fun and unique experience. Celebrated my husband's birthday and they provided a little champagne to start the night. Every drink that we had was well crafted and delicious. The donuts weren't bad either--we really enjoyed the samoa.
