Nice biriyani. Polite service. Best chicken curry. Has a menu that's different from other "Indian" restaurants

I have gone to Shakthi three or four times this year. The first two or three times, it took at least 40 minutes to get our food. Each time. And the food was good, but not worth the wait. More recently, I went in for takeout. The soups I got cost over 20 -- including tax -- but the shrimp soup had almost no substance, and perhaps four to five shrimp. Likewise, the other soup was mostly liquid. The setup of the restaurant is quite nice, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are reasonable -- assuming a reasonable amount of food comes with the meal. Regretfully, I must give the restaurant a poor grade for a lack of timely service and for a lack of food in my most recent meal. I hope this review proves helpful for Shakthi's management.
Good food and service. The lamb curries were excellent. There are also many varied coconut dishes worth trying. Avoid the fish curry. A must visit if you live in this neighborhood.
Flavors are unreal. Deviled chicken has me hooked. Best Tom yum soup I've had since being in Thailand a year ago. Everything is good here especially the waiter we always have. Definitely one of my favorites.
Have gotten take-out from here several times. The string hoppers are awesome, the vindaloo is great as well. Ask for it spicy and it actually comes spicy.
We chose this because there were high ratings on google, but only a few, and it didn't even show up among top ratings in Yelp, I should have paid attention to that. Food was okay. They have a diverse menu, Indian, Sri Lankan, and Thai, but then it was hard to know what would be good. We ordered veggie samosas for an appetizer. They had good flavor, but were quite oily. Our entrees then took over an hour to arrive after that point (there were only two of us, we didn't order anything complicated and the place was not busy). I had salmon tandoori, which had great flavor, but was overcooked and dry. The salad that came with was simple but nice. The accompanying veggies were awful and overcooked. Overall the food wasn't too terrible, but the place was appallingly slow, it took over 2.5 hours for a simple dinner.
My adviser took us there. The students are from different countries. Everybody loved the food. So good! We would drive a long way to eat there.
I have been here four times, and it has never failed to impress me. Sri Lankan food is amazing, quite a good variety, freshly prepared and delicious. Keep up the good work.
