I love this place. I went in looking for a Viking costume and discovered that renting really is the best way to do it: endless incredible options, and you don't end up accumulating a pile of stuff you only use once per year. The owner is wonderful, passionate, and kind- strongly suggest you go here before some dingy Party City. If you DO want to buy, their selection is... vast.

My daughter needed stage makeup for an upcoming middle school production and her theatre teacher recommended The American Backstage Company. Having read the reviews, I was a bit hesitant, but I trusted that the teacher wouldn't steer us wrong. We had a great experience. They had the Ben Nye makeup kit that she needed, clearly new in packaging and at a reasonable price. The owner helped her get the right color. He was also exceptionally helpful in finding tights in the right size/shade. This is a wonderful costume/prop/dancewear/stage makeup shop. I can see how the owner might have seemed gruff to some people (he is matter of fact), but he was very nice to us. I can't wait to go back at Halloween, if not sooner!
This is a GREAT store! They have a huge selection of ready made costumes, plus a large number of custom made costumes for rent. Whilst I originally went there to buy a hat, I left with loads of makeup for cosplay. Their makeup prices are the best I've found in the area, plus the staff went way out of their way giving me free makeup advice. This is definitely a must stop on your thespian journey in life.
Heard about The American backstage company from a friend for awsome wig selections. I finially got to the store and it was like a diamond in a sea of nothing. Wonderful customer service, the employees are quick and diligent. The wigs were fabulous and the costume rental section was just amazing. They had just everything you could muster up in your imagination to become for whatever your party, event, on stage play, photo shoots etc... All i wanted was a wig and thanks to Mr.Rip (owner) and his staff i left with make-up, a whole Zorro costume and the feeling like ill win best dressed at my function. I Love this place and ill definitely be come back.
My experience was outstanding. I had no idea what I wanted to be for a pirate's ball and the folks there helped my wife and myself out with two great costumes. I don't have any problem going back or recommending them to anyone.
Great Customer Service and Good Selection!! The store is very big and has a warehouse feel but they have a large inventory. The workers were very helpful. I have a wide foot and the employees looked thru everything to get me the best fitting ballet shoe. 5 stars!!
Fan. Tastic. We had such a great experience with them! Not only are the costumes available for rent, they are a decent price. And the staff is so friendly and helpful. Plus, there's good parking! We'll be going here for all of our costume needs in the future.
Rip is the man, last year he absolutely hooked me up and helped me put together the most realistic cowboy outfit I’d ever seen. I read some of the bad reviews about him yelling and making the customers uncomfortable and that’s just bs. Rip is super friendly, super knowledgeable and super passionate about what he does and his products. That’s what people need to understand. Stay on his good side and he’ll go above and beyond for you. Thanks Rip! I’m headin in today to put together this years outfit! :)
