Great spot! Reservations are helpful. Menu isn’t too deep but everything is great. We got an order of bao buns and had to get a second.

Yunnan By Potomac has been our quarantine life-saver. We first ordered take out from here early quarantine and it quickly became a bit of a tradition for us. We absolutely love it -- everything we've tried has been fantastic. Stellar service, easy take out, and awesome food: we have no complains -- just that we can't eat there every day! Can't wait till they reopen again, and so excited to see what they've done with their renovations!

Delicious dumplings, had beef and pork. Also the fried chicken buns were yummy. Happy to have this place in the neighborhood.

Alexandria is known for many great gems. Yunnan By Potomac is unquestionably one of the best. This humble restaurant is run by a husband and wife team and is the first (and only) Yunnan style Chinese restaurant in the Greater Washington. Where is Yunnan, you ask? I did the Googling for you. It's a region located in southwest China with a distinctive cuisine specializing in Mixian rice noodle bowls. This spot also offers a variety of incredible small plates like Potato Fried Rice and Pork Belly Buns. I've tried their signature Little Pot which is a pork & chicken bone broth-based rice noodle soup with minced pork, carrots, Chinese chives, pickled mustard greens, spinach, and a braised tea egg. This bowl is a beautiful orchestra of flavors with incredible depth so comforting that you'll want to eat it on a cold winter day (or every day for that matter). And for my fellow egg-heads, the tea egg is cooked so perfectly that you'll want a few more. I also tried their bun offerings - Pork Belly Bun, Marinated Aged Tofu Bun, and Braised Tea Egg Bun. These all come nestled in a steamed lotus leaf bun and garnished with scallion, sweet soy, chili oil, and pickled onion. Overall, the food is top-notch and the owners are super friendly. They're currently only doing carry-out and delivery, but rest assured, you will be satisfied. If you're looking for a fantastically different Chinese food experience, add this to your list immediately.

Absolutely amazing. Everything was delicious and I will be back to have the whole menu. All the dumplings are amazing. The fried rice is unlike any fried rice I've had before and it is the best I've ever had. The owners are also very dedicated to service & it's a great & friendly spot! I plan on being a regular!!!

First time trying ramen ever and this did not disappoint. I had veggie with tofu and it was amazing but a little spicy for me. I added a touch of water and it helped. My bf got beef and it was so good with a rich flavor reminiscent of pot roast. They only had take out but we ordered and it was ready in 15 minutes. Ample parking because even though it's in old town, it's not close to the main areas. Definitely try this place if you're in the area.

Delicious food! Hearty and great for cold nights. This has become our go-to place for take out as well as dine in- they also have delicious drinks. Try the spiced sangria!!!

One if my favorites in the area, nothing else like the little pot. The side dishes are also quite good! Can't wait for them to reopen after the renovation!
